Our Story
Birdstone Labradors is a small, home-based kennel located on just over six acres near Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Now retired, my husband and I are able to devote our time and energy to my lifelong passion for dogs. I first entered the AKC obedience ring at age 16 and have since trained and competed in obedience, tracking, hunt tests, and other canine sports.
We breed infrequently—only once or twice a year—with a strong commitment to quality rather than quantity. Our girls are shown in the AKC Labrador Retriever Specialty Ring, and every breeding is carefully planned to meet the breed standard for both conformation and temperament.
We rarely have more than eight dogs at any given time. Our younger dogs spend their nights in their own spaces within our home and their days in securely fenced outdoor paddocks, with access to a heated and air-conditioned kennel building. A couple of our older dogs live in the house full time and sleep at the foot of our bed.
Each breeding is done with the intention of keeping a puppy to raise and show ourselves. All remaining puppies are placed exclusively in carefully selected pet homes, where they can enjoy the same love, companionship, and care that our own dogs receive.
